Weddings and Vow Renewals Celebration of Life and Funerals - Baby and Child Naming Ceremonies
Throughout Dorchester, I can conduct home visits to listen to your thoughts and ideas and help you formulate your weddings and vow renewals. For example, if you would like to include any mini ceremonies such as a sand ceremony where you use different colours of sand for the bride, groom, and any children, I can help you with this.
The sand is typically poured into a glass jar by the bride then the groom, and then both together as this represents the couple's unity. Children from either or both sides pour their sand into the jar which represents them all blending as a family.
Other weddings and vow renewals can include:
I am a civil celebrant, so for anyone wishing to have a celebrant-led celebration of life for their loved one, I would be more than happy to help. These ceremonies are typically held in a non-religious venue such as a crematorium or any other venue deemed appropriate like a village hall - especially if the loved one is to be buried in a cemetery or natural burial ground.
I always visit you at your home and help you plan your loved one's order of service, where I will liaise with your chosen funeral director. I would help you as a family or individual to personalise your loved one's life story if you so wish or I can support you in your writing and delivering of their life story.
I would help lift the burden of the organisation from you so you can feel reassured that the celebration of life and funerals will all go very smoothly, and we will do your loved one proud by having a very fitting ceremony.
This is a non-religious ceremony, which means it's not a christening or baptism. This is a ceremony where a baby, child, or several children in the family are surrounded by the love of their family or friends to celebrate the joy they have brought to the family.
Another reason people may want to hold baby and child naming ceremonies is that the parents or family prefer the baby or child to decide for themselves when they are old enough to be baptised.
Alternatively, it may be very important for an adoptive couple to signify welcoming a baby or child into their family as their own.
Whatever the reason, your baby or child's special day will be very much dedicated to that child, children, and their loved ones. Again, this will be very much tailored to your thoughts, wishes and needs as a family. Religion can be included if the parents wish for example a prayer or reading, a song or a piece of music.
